Back Pain Treatment

Treatments Tailored to You

Every person has a unique history and spine, and our approach is different depending on what your body needs. Studies show back pain leads to 264 million days of lost work annually and chiropractic care is the most effective treatment for chronic back pain. Back pain, although common, is not normal. Your natural state is feeling good! Pain, even occasional pain in your back, is a sign you need to have your spine evaluated.

How does it work? Read more below about our process and approach.

Step 1

Assessment

The first step is an examination and history so we can figure out the best treatment plan. We will do a thorough assessment to determine what areas of your spine are affected. When spinal bones have lost their normal joint motion and have shifted out of place, this leads to tension, stiffness, pain, lost mobility, pressure on nerves, and overall loss of function. If other tests are required, such as an X-ray or MRI, we will let you know so we can give you the best care.

We often get questions regarding these conditions, and we can treat patients with a history of any of the following conditions (including but not limited to):

     -> Sprain/strain                                                              -> Sciatica

     -> Past compression fractures.                                          -> Sports injuries

     -> Pinched nerve                                                             -> Sacroiliac joint inflammation

     -> Falls                                                                          -> Spinal stenosis

     -> Herniated or slipped discs                                            -> Bulging discs

     -> Scoliosis                                                                      -> Spondylolisthesis & Spondylosis

     -> Fibromyalgia                                                               -> Pregnancy (Webster Technique)

     -> Osteoporosis                                                               -> Ankylosing Spondylitis

     -> Osteoarthritis/Degenerative Joint Disease                      -> Arthritis

     -> Back surgeries, including artificial discs, fusions, metal in

         the spine, etc. (we will modify our treatment accordingly)

Step 2

Review Results & Treatment Plan

We know that knowledge is power, and we will help you understand your condition, treatment options, and prognosis. We'll review the primary tissues involved, the severity of your condition, and how we will monitor your progress along the way.

Step 3

Treatment & Follow-Up

We have high standards when it comes to your care. Our adjustments and spinal exercises are specific, based on your spinal curves and misalignments. This is why we get results when other treatments have failed. Our treatments are holistic, designed to help you be more aware of your body and help you release stored stress and tension. We empower you by helping you shift any habits and lifestyle choices that may be affecting your health and well-being.

In our office we use a number of different treatment approaches, depending on the person's condition. We use a holistic approach, with breath and body awareness exercises, spinal rehabilitation exercises, specific spinal adjustments, and several chiropractic techniques, including Thompson drop, Diversified, Network Spinal, Activator, Webster, and more.

We will monitor your progress along the way, and help you stay on track to get lasting results. We're here for you!

Testimonials

Melanie

"Many years ago I fractured my lower back and have found chiropractic care to be of benefit. I am not a fan of aggressive treatments and so was delighted to find Dr. Amy at Balance Point Chiropractic. Her treatments are so incredibly gentle, intuitive and effective, and I have found that it has helped not only my physical alignment but also my emotional well-being. Thank you, Dr. Amy, for all your care."

Anita

"My sincere thanks to Dr. Amy Hawthorne. She is a highly skilled certified Chiropractic Doctor and I would recommend her to anyone with a chiropractic issue, skeletal/spinal alignment problems, and lower back pain. I had a suspected pinched nerve and radiating back pain, and after a series of sessions, my back feels much better and I am pain free. I have had a very positive experience. Thank you so much."

Leta

"I had experienced a bad fall that resulted in my left side being affected by a variety of symptoms—tingling down my arm and leg, numbness in my extremities, pain in my left hip and sciatic nerve, tension throughout my upper and lower back, brain fog, and trouble sleeping.  Within a few treatments I started feeling a change, with tingling and numbness disappearing altogether within a couple of weeks. Gradually, the pain in my legs started going away, my sleep improved, my focus and creativity returned, and I just felt more energised and relaxed. I’m exercising with more ease and flexibility and notice my balance improving.

I look forward to continuing treatment, knowing it will improve my overall health and well-being, and keep me at my optimum in handling day to day stress and energy levels. Thank you, Dr. Amy, for the positive changes in both my physical body and my mental and emotional health."
